Introduction

In 2024, I won the Best Personal Website Design award at the International Web Developers’ Summit, a testament to my passion for UI/UX design. As a web developer for Zimmer Biomet and PurpleRain TechSafe, I’ve learned that user-friendly design is as crucial as security. In this post, I share why UI/UX matters, the process behind my award-winning website (yashk.app), and actionable tips for creating impactful designs.

The Power of UI/UX

UI (User Interface) focuses on aesthetics, while UX (User Experience) ensures functionality. Together, they create seamless digital experiences. My C.O.D.E. Hack 2023 win showed me that judges value usability as much as code. At Zimmer Biomet, I optimized interfaces for medical professionals, proving UI/UX’s real-world impact.

How I Designed yashk.app

1. User-Centric Design

I started by defining my audience: tech enthusiasts and recruiters. My MUN experience helped me empathize with users, ensuring intuitive navigation.

Tip: Use tools like Figma to create user personas and wireframes.

2. Clean Aesthetics

Inspired by minimalism, I used Tailwind CSS for a sleek look. My coin-collecting hobby taught me to value simplicity—every element should have purpose.

Tip: Choose a consistent color palette. Try Coolors for inspiration.

3. Responsive Design

Testing on multiple devices ensured yashk.app worked on mobiles and desktops. My HackSkye Hackathon role reinforced the need for accessibility.

Tip: Use Bootstrap or Media Queries for responsive layouts.

4. Performance Optimization
